Bulletin 16 - March 1982: Preliminary List of Birds Breeding in the UAE and Offshore
Preliminary List of Birds Breeding in the UAE and Offshore
by J.N.B. Brown
The species number shown below is taken from "Birds Recorded in the
United Arab Emirates", a list compiled by Mrs. F.E. Warr in 1978. This in
turn was arrived at by numbering every species listed by K.H. Voous in his
"List of Recent Holarctic Bird Species", Ibis 1973, issue 115: pp.612
- 638 and Ibis 1977, issue 119: pp. 223 - 250 and 276 - 406.

Evidence and records of other birds nesting in the UAE would be welcomed.
Substantiating the records of birds already listed above would confirm their
status as breeding, where we only have records of young birds, not eggs, in the
nest. This list has been compiled mainly from the records of the following
observers: J.Stewart-Smith, W. Robertson, G.Miles (Dubai), R.O. King, J.M. &
M. Hollingworth, A.D. Harris, T. & M. Giles, I. Fraser, J.N.B. Brown
