HCT students hike to Village One

In the winter of 2005, several students from the Al Ain campus of the Higher Colleges of Technology wanted a "warm up" hike as they prepared for a weekend of camping to earn an outdoor education certificate. The Al Ain chapter was pleased to take the women for a walk from the oasis village of Khutwah to the abandoned community in the mountains we know as "Village One".

We leave the falaj and begin the trail at Sultan's Oasis.	The path leads in the narrows between the mountains and the gravel plain just beyond the oasis.	The students were well equipped and supplied having spent several days preparing for the walk.	The clouds in the morning sky provided some spectacular scenery.
